create a space for people to experience my art and inspirations

to share a little about myself.

to share some great tips for artists that i’ve picked up along the journey and hopefully learn some new ones.

to learn from you all who visit me here

to nurture artistic friendships and endeavors

with this first post, i want to share something that i think is very important to anyone who creates: having your own creative space. how important is this ya? this is soooo important and so hard to make happen. at least for me it was. after moving back to the west coast from finishing art school in new york 3 years ago, i’ve lived with roommates and family. both of which space was open in each place but left me with two options: create an art space in my bedroom or create an art space in the dining room. though i tried both options, neither really excited or fused my creative juices because of either the proximity of space and/or foot traffic. thus the art studio thing never really took off.

until now.

a few months ago, i moved into a new house. there is enough room here that i have actually created my first art studio. ahh those words feel so good even just typing them makes me smile. i’ll write it again just to make sure.. i have actually created my first art studio. YES! o.k. artists. anyone who has lived in new york or any dorm or any small bedroom or hallway or bus or car or street, knows how hard it is to find space (literal space) to create in that is just yours. this small little studio in my new home is everything to me. it means everything to me because i have worked hard to bring manifest the intention i set out for; this amazing little studio of wonders where i can unload the outside world and get back in touch with where it all started: the imagination. where i can stop doing and start being. where i can just, be me. nikki.

so today, in celebration, i gift you a peek at what started as an unattainable dream, a wish, a hoped for idea, my art studio.

“…and so, it has taken me all of 60 years to understand that water is the finest drink, and bread the most delicious food, and that art is worthless unless it plants a measure of splendor in peoples hearts.” – taha muhammad ali
